Jim Howe graduated from Ames High Schoolin 1980, with a gold medal from the State of lowa High
School Welding Competition. He joined the United StatesNavy in 1980, serving onboard USS L.Y. Spear AS-36sub-tender until 1986. He was top of his class in the USNavy Welding School and is certified for non-nuclearhigh-pressure plate and pipe, US Navy Standards. Healso completed the US Navy heat treatment of metals andaluminum MIG & TIG school. Jim remained in the NavalReserves until 2006.Howe’s Welding and Metal Fabrication was opened in 1986at its current location, 811 South Duff. The business hasbeen running for over 35 years. Jim and his staff can tacklemost any job, and are not afraid of problem-solving.The mind is the only limitation!
